During the period that St. Charles County was governed by the Spanish, the famous frontiersman Daniel Boone would decide local disputes under this “Judgment Tree”.  A memorial to the tree is located about a 1/10th of a mile from the Katy Trial trailhead at Hwy 94 in Matson, Missouri. A mural of Daniel Boone dispensing justice under the Judgment Tree is located in the Missouri Senate Chamber.
